On Raymond Island, on the Gippsland Lakes, The Abbey of St Barnabas at A’Beckett Park, is a place of natural beauty. With koalas in the gum trees and other bird and wildlife, The Abbey is a special place for all.
THE ABBEY PROGRAM
The Abbey Program offers a wide range of workshops and retreats. Each individual program offers participants the opportunity to appreciate or work within the environment, nourish the spirit and explore your creativity.
- 31 May to 3 June, Pilgrimage on Raymond Island. Time to journey, time to relax, to walk and pray within the Environment of the Abbey of St Barnabas. Led by Rev Lyndon Phillips. Time to celebrate with the Festival of Aboriginal Culture and Reconciliation.
- 7 June to 10 June, The spirituality of winter. A retreat led by the Rev’d Anne Turner and the Anam Cara Community.
- 14 June to 17 June, Environment Week 1A. Coming to an understanding of the interdependence of all life and our role in its nurture and practical aspects of living a sustainable lifestyle – led by Ann Miller and the Environmental Task Force
- 17 June to 19 June, Environment Week 1B. Coming to an understanding of the interdependence of all life and our role in its nurture and practical aspects of living a sustainable lifestyle – led by Ann Miller and the Environmental Task Force.
- 21 June to 24 June, Welcoming the Stranger A. Talking with those who have sought refuge in our land, engaging together in struggle and journey – matters of faith and life. Led by the Very Rev‘d Dr Don Saines.
- 24 June to 25 June, Welcoming the Stranger B. Talking with those who have sought refuge in our land, engaging together in struggle and journey – matters of faith and life. Led by the Very Rev‘d Dr Don Saines.
- 28 June to 1 July, Fire, Textiles and Prayer A. The drama of fire and the journey of faith, explored through the creativity of textiles and colour. Led by Anne Connelly, hosted by Rosemary Pounder.

- 29 July to 31 July, Work Week 1B. Work and prayer working together. Led by the Rev’d Brian Turner.
Accommodation: will be in the comfortable 3.5 star refurbished motel style accommodation units. There are eight rooms with ensuite. Each room is fitted out with a queen size bed and a single bed, microwave, fridge, toaster, crockery and cutlery. As single rooms we can accommodate 8 people and as twin or double rooms we can accommodate 16 people. There are 2 Wheel chair accessible units.
Cost: Twin share $75 per person per night fully catered and linen provided, single room addition $25 per person per night.
