The Anam Cara Community’s annual service of thanksgiving and commissioning was held on 30 June 2012 at St Mary’s Anglican Church, Morwell.
The service was led by Archdeacon Heather Marten, the Vicar General. During the service the Community welcomed new associates, commissioned the servant leadership team, gave thanks for Anne Turner’s ministry as the Community’s inaugural Soul Carer, and commissioned the two new soul carers, Jane Macqueen and Colin Thornby.
Anne has been the Soul Carer (leader) of the Anam Cara Community since it began in 2007. In that time she has served the Community and individual associates wisely and well. She has discerned that the time has come to retire from her role as Soul Carer, so that she can accept God’s invitation to new ministry. Anne will shortly post a video to this site to outline her understanding of God’s call to her.
Jane Macqueen and Colin Thornby were commissioned as the Community’s new Soul Carers. Jane and Colin are both experienced leaders, having served the church and their sisters in brothers in a number of ministries. In the next few weeks Jane and Colin will introduce themselves to the Community.
